Bob

Robert (Bob) Lucas brings a wealth of maritime experience and a lifelong passion for sailing to Boston Sailing and Fishing Charters. Originally from the United Kingdom, Bob relocated to the United States in 2002 to advance his career in biopharmaceutical manufacturing, where he held roles of increasing responsibility, leading complex projects to deliver safe and effective medicines. After over 40 years in the industry, Bob retired in 2024 to fully embrace his love for the sea.

For the past 20 years, Bob has sailed the waters of Massachusetts, beginning as a member of the Boston Sailing Center, where he honed his skills racing Soling keelboats. During the pandemic, Bob teamed up with Captain Roman to explore the scenic Boston Harbor Islands, which remain one of his favorite sailing destinations. His passion for cruising has taken him along the Northeast coast, with multi-day sails up the Maine coast and to Cape Cod, immersing himself in the region’s maritime beauty.

Bob remains an active member of the sailing community, holding a membership at Courageous Sailing in Charlestown, where he frequently races Rhodes 19s on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in Boston Harbor. As a valued crew member of the Pelagic Sailing Club, he is currently pursuing his skipper certification, further deepening his expertise. Additionally, Bob serves as a deckhand for Boston City Cruises, where he continues to refine his skills on the water.

For Bob, every sail is a new adventure and an opportunity to learn. Committed to becoming a better mariner, he is working toward earning his U.S. Coast Guard Master License. Whether racing in Boston Harbor, cruising the Massachusetts coast, or sharing his passion with guests, Bob’s enthusiasm and expertise ensure a memorable and safe experience for all aboard.
